Canadian
artist Dwight Roscoe currently resides in Kelowna, B.C., though he was formally
from Boundary Bay, B.C. This is where Dwight was first inspired, and where
he continues to search the shores for the pieces that would, “Become “his birds.
Dwight is
impassioned by the raptors and shore birds surrounding the ocean shores and
combines driftwood, cedar and various hard woods to create the surprisingly
lifelike and dynamic sculptures that transmit the spirit of each and every bird
he creates. The coloring is achieved by applying various and numerous
washes of stain just as a water color artist would apply colors to canvas.
Dwight’s
trade mark is the action that his creations emit, the sense that they have been
caught in the act of landing, or taking off, or in the case of the great blue
heron, poised for the dive that will provide lunch. The power and essence
of the birds are caught in the kinetic energy of their wings and feathers.
Each and
every sculpture created is an original work of art, authenticated and signed by
the artist. Dwight’s sculptures have been shipped to the United States and to
numerous countries abroad.
This three
dimensional art form is exceptional, and can be displayed in particular art
niches such as: a conversation piece in entrance ways, or living rooms, as an
organic ornament in ponds, or as an eye catching sculpture on a garden path. The
sculptures can be displayed on walls and hung as a three dimensional picture
where space is at a premium.
